Beschrijving voorzijde The national arms of Sierra Leone are depicted centrally, featuring two lions rampant as supporters flanking a shield charged with a lion passant above three torches, with two palm trees in the background. A scroll below the shield bears the national motto in the legend. The circular legend REPUBLIC OF SIERRA LEONE arcs along the upper periphery within a beaded border, while the motto UNITY FREEDOM JUSTICE appears on the ribbon below the shield. The date 2001 is inscribed at the bottom of the field.

Aanvullende informatie

Sierra Leone's wildlife dollar series from this period was issued primarily for the collector and souvenir market rather than domestic circulation — the country's own currency was the leone, and these dollar-denominated pieces had no practical monetary role locally. The series exploited a brief international appetite for affordable wildlife-themed cupro-nickel dollars from small nations, most of which were produced under contract by foreign mints and sold through television shopping channels and mail-order catalogs in Europe and North America.
