| Reverse description | A finely detailed engraving of HMS Resolution, Captain James Cook's three-masted Royal Navy sloop-of-war, dominates the central field under full sail and proceeding to the left. The rigging, billowing sails, and hull details are rendered with considerable relief, capturing the vessel underway on stylized waves. A row of small stylized island or wave motifs runs along the lower field beneath the ship. The curved legend 'RESOLUTION' arcs along the upper periphery in decorative serif Latin capitals, while the denomination 'ONE DOLLAR' is inscribed in two lines at the bottom of the field, flanked by the wave motifs. |
