Additional information

Sierra Leone issued a wave of commemorative dollars in the early 2000s through the Pobjoy Mint, targeting the collector market rather than circulation — most were struck to coincide with British royal events and anniversaries. This piece marks the Golden Jubilee of Elizabeth II, 2002 being the fiftieth year of her reign. Charles, as Prince of Wales since 1969, appeared on numerous such issues across multiple Commonwealth and associate nations during this period.

KM#282 is one of dozens of Sierra Leone collector issues from this era, none of which saw meaningful domestic use.
