| 背面描述 | The reverse displays a full-colour scenic depiction of the rustic coastline of Pulau Ubin island, showing traditional stilted wooden structures along the shoreline backed by lush tropical foliage, with a bumboat crossing the foreground waters rendered in polychrome enamel. Stylised wave motifs in relief occupy the lower field below the coloured inset. The legend PULAU UBIN curves along the upper rim in incuse lettering, while the series title Rustic Coast and the denomination $1 appear in the lower right of the field. |

Pulau Ubin is a small island off Singapore's northeastern coast that became the subject of quiet political anxiety in the early 2000s as urban development pressure mounted. The island retained a kampung lifestyle long after mainland Singapore had modernized entirely, and by 2007 it was one of the last places in Singapore where residents still lived without a mains electricity supply. This coin was issued during a period of active government debate about the island's future — a debate that has never fully resolved.
