PortAventura World, the theme park resort near Salou on the Costa Daurada, issued these polymer notes as internal scrip — redeemable within the park's retail and food operations, not as any form of legal tender. The polymer substrate was a practical choice for an environment where notes are handled by wet or sticky hands, exposed to sunlight, and frequently dropped on the ground.

These circulated hard and were rarely kept. Intact survivors are more common than you might expect only because tourists pocketed them as souvenirs before spending them.
