| Popis líce | The obverse bears the portrait of Sacagawea (c. 1788–1812), the Shoshone interpreter and guide of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, depicted in right-facing profile with her infant son Jean Baptiste Charbonneau secured to her back in a traditional cradleboard. The effigy was designed by Glenna Goodacre and has appeared on all Sacagawea and Native American dollars since 2000. The legend LIBERTY arcs along the upper rim, while IN GOD WE TRUST appears in the left field, and the designer's initials GG are incuse below the portrait. The date, mint mark, and E PLURIBUS UNUM motto are inscribed on the edge rather than the obverse face. |

| Popis rubu | The reverse depicts a central design of eagle feathers arranged in a circular composition, symbolizing the shared heritage and honor of Native American service members. Five stars, representing the five branches of the United States Armed Forces — Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard — are prominently placed in the foreground. A circular arc in the background provides an additional cultural reference to Native American traditions. The design was executed by designer Don Everhart. Inscriptions include NATIVE AMERICANS – DISTINGUISHED MILITARY SERVICE SINCE 1775, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and the denomination $1, with the reverse artist's initials DW and JFM also present. |
