| 裏面の説明 | Two figures engaged in a handshake — a law enforcement officer and a civilian — are depicted in bold relief at the center of the field, symbolizing community partnership and the trust-building mission of law enforcement. The design conveys a sense of mutual respect and cooperation through confident, expressive modeling. The surrounding legend reads UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and E PLURIBUS UNUM, with the denomination ONE DOLLAR appearing below. The design was engraved by John McGraw. |

Authorized under the National Law Enforcement Museum Commemorative Coin Act of 2016, this issue funded construction of the museum that opened on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C. in October 2018 — years before the coin itself was struck. Surcharges of $10 per proof and $5 per uncirculated piece were directed to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.
The 2021 striking date places it among a wave of post-pandemic commemorative releases delayed by Mint production disruptions in 2020.
