| Obverse description | The obverse bears the national arms of the Republic of Palau rendered in low relief at centre, depicting a shield with traditional Palauan imagery and the motto RAINBOWS END on a scroll at its base. The legend REPUBLIC OF PALAU arcs above the arms, flanked by small five-pointed stars on either side. The denomination 1S appears incuse in the lower field below the arms. The entire design is struck on a matte-finished gold flan shaped in the stylised silhouette of a young penguin chick viewed from the reverse. |
