Beschrijving voorzijde Central pointed shield bearing a balance scale device, with the round central hole incorporated into the shield design and the word ASTRON inscribed below the hole within the shield. Flanking the shield on either side are decorative sprigs of leaves in low relief. Aanvullende informatie

Hutt River Province declared secession from Australia in 1970 after a dispute over wheat quotas — Leonard Casley, a farmer, exploited an obscure provision of Western Australian law and proclaimed himself sovereign. The Commonwealth never formally recognised the claim, but also never forcibly ended it, leaving the province in legal limbo for five decades. By 1977, Casley had styled himself Prince Leonard I and was issuing coins primarily as curiosities for tourists and collectors, with no meaningful domestic circulation.

The X-series reference confirms its status as a local or unofficial issue in Krause's World Coins catalogue.
