| Beschrijving keerzijde | Two highly detailed koi fish are depicted in a dynamic yin-yang composition, swimming in opposite directions around a centrally placed blooming lotus flower, symbolising balance, harmony, and good fortune. The fishes' scales, fins, and flowing tails are rendered with fine relief engraving, and stylised auspicious cloud motifs fill the surrounding field. The coloured background contrasts the silver relief elements, with the upper portion rendered in gold-green and the lower in deep red, emphasising the duality of the yin-yang symbolism. Fiji's numismatic program has operated largely as a commercial licensing exercise since the late 20th century, with the Reserve Bank of Fiji authorizing foreign mints — primarily the Perth Mint and various European houses — to produce collector coins bearing Fijian authority but otherwise unconnected to Fijian monetary circulation. This koi issue falls squarely in that category.
Koi-themed bullion and collector rounds have become a fixture of the Asian-market numismatic trade, where the fish carries strong cultural associations with prosperity and longevity in Chinese, Japanese, and Korean collecting communities.
