Reverse description The reverse depicts a bold, close-cropped effigy of the Statue of Liberty facing slightly right, her radiate crown and draped robes rendered in fine relief. Her right arm is raised aloft holding the torch of freedom, while her left hand grasps the tablet of law. The denomination '$1' appears prominently to the left of the figure in the field. The legend 'UNITED STATES OF AMERICA' arcs around the upper periphery, and the engraver's initials appear discreetly at the lower right of the design.
