Additional information

Adams was the first president to occupy the White House, moving in during November 1800 with just months left in his single term. His inclusion in the second position of the Presidential Dollar series — authorized by the Presidential $1 Coin Act of 2005 — was straightforward chronology, though the series itself was Congress's attempt to revive dollar coin circulation after the Susan B. Anthony and Sacagawea programs both failed to displace the one-dollar bill in everyday use.

A small number of 2007 Adams dollars were struck without edge lettering due to a production error, making them smooth-edged. These "plain edge" errors entered circulation and have been authenticated by major grading services.
