Additional information

Sierra Leone's prolific commemorative dollar series, issued through the 2000s by the Bank of Sierra Leone in partnership with outside distributors, targeted the collector novelty market rather than domestic circulation. The Investiture of Prince Charles at Caernarfon Castle took place in July 1969 — the ceremony itself was partly televised, drawing an audience of approximately 500 million worldwide, and was staged with considerable political calculation amid rising Welsh nationalist sentiment.

A gap of 37 years between the event and this coin's striking tells you exactly what this issue is.
