| Additional information |
Part of the Royal Australian Mint's ongoing "Iconic Aussie Fruits" series, this dollar commemorates Coffs Harbour's Big Banana — one of the original "Big Things," a roadside attraction phenomenon that spread across Australia from the 1960s onward. The Big Banana opened in 1964, predating most of its oversized imitators by years.
The sixth portrait of Elizabeth II, by Jody Clark, appears here on one of the final Australian coins struck before her death in September 2022 reached the mint's production calendar.
