| Reverse description | A highly detailed, full-colour applied image dominates the reverse field, depicting an adult koala clinging to a eucalyptus branch with its young joey nestled against its chest, both animals rendered with naturalistic colouring in warm brown tones. The coloured eucalyptus foliage in autumnal orange and red hues is visible at the lower right, adding vivid depth to the composition. The legend KOALA arcs across the upper field in large incuse letters, while the date 2023 and the purity and weight inscription 1oz 9999 SILVER appear along the left field. The Perth Mint's P mintmark is visible to the lower left, and the engraver's initials IJ appear in the lower right of the design. |

| Additional information |
Perth Mint's annual silver Koala series has run since 1987, with the reverse design changed each year — a deliberate strategy to encourage collector repurchase that has made the series one of Australia's longest-running bullion programs. The "6th Portrait" designation refers to the Jody Clark effigy of Elizabeth II, introduced across Australian coinage in 2019, which itself became historically fixed when the Queen died in September 2022, making this 2023 issue one of the first struck posthumously under that portrait.
