| Beschrijving voorzijde | A Formula 1 racing car is depicted in the lower central field, shown from a three-quarter front perspective crossing the finish line. A large waving chequered flag dominates the upper portion of the design, with grandstands filled with spectators visible in the background to both left and right. The word ZIEL (German for 'finish') is inscribed in large letters along the lower field, flanked by the date elements 20 and 02. The legend DEUTSCHE FORMEL 1 PILOTEN arcs along the upper rim, with the denomination $1 appearing in the upper centre, and REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA inscribed along the lower rim. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Liberia produced a sprawling series of celebrity and motorsport commemoratives in the late 1990s and early 2000s, almost none of which ever circulated on the island. These pieces were minted almost exclusively for the international collector market, with Liberia's name lending nominal sovereign authority to what were effectively licensed novelty issues. Frentzen had just come off a difficult 2001 season, cycling through Jordan and Prost before the latter collapsed entirely mid-year.
