Obverse description Red on green and purple multicolour underprint, with black serial numbers, date, and two manuscript signatures. A central vignette of a waterfall is flanked by a toucan vignette at left and a ship seal at right, all set within an intricate guilloche border. The legend THE GOVERNMENT OF BRITISH GUIANA and denomination ONE DOLLAR appear in bold letterpress text.

Reverse description Printed entirely in red, the reverse is dominated by an intaglio bust portrait of King George VI in military dress uniform at centre, enclosed within a circular guilloche frame. Elaborate lathe-work panels fill the left and right fields, each incorporating a large numeral 1, with the printer's imprint WATERLOW & SONS LIMITED, LONDON inscribed at the lower centre.
