Obverse description Red on green and purple underprint, with black serial numbers, date, and signatures. The central vignette presents a waterfall scene flanked by a toucan vignette at left and a ship seal at right, all set within an intricate guilloche border. The legend of the issuing authority, promise to pay, and printer's imprint appear in letterpress across the note.

Reverse description Printed entirely in red, the reverse is dominated by a central oval vignette containing an intaglio portrait of King George V in military uniform, set within an elaborate guilloche framework. Denomination numeral "1" appears in ornate cartouches to the left and right of the central portrait, surrounded by intricate lathe-work patterns. The printer's imprint of Waterlow & Sons Limited, London Wall, London, appears in small text below the central oval.
