| Obverse description | The obverse displays the coat of arms of the Republic of Palau centered within the egg-shaped field, featuring the traditional shield supported by a native canoeist above and two seated figures flanking a central deity holding a trident, with a crescent moon and star above. The legend REPUBLIC OF PALAU arcs along the upper periphery, accompanied by a ring of small stars on either side. Below the arms, the inscription RAINBOW'S END appears within the lower portion of the shield's decorative border. The denomination 1$ is struck in the lower field beneath the coat of arms. Palau's licensed novelty coinage program, administered largely through the Coin Invest Trust of Liechtenstein, has produced dozens of small-format gold issues aimed squarely at the collector gift market rather than any monetary function. The "Golden Egg" series sits firmly in that category. Palau itself has no independent mint and authorizes these issues by contract, a common arrangement among Pacific island nations whose legal tender coinage is produced entirely abroad and rarely, if ever, reaches the issuing territory.
