| Obverse description | Intaglio portrait of King George V in military uniform occupies the right portion of the note within a dark vignette, facing three-quarters left. The central field carries the denomination ONE DOLLAR in a guilloche underprint band, above the legend PROMISES TO PAY THE BEARER ON DEMAND AT SINGAPORE and LOCAL CURRENCY FOR VALUE RECEIVED with the issue date. A large oval watermark space is reserved at left. Chinese and Malay script characters appear along the left and right margins, with ornamental floral corner devices bordering the entire design. |
