Obverse description Draped bust of King Carlos IV facing right, with the date below and a circular legend surrounding the effigy. A Type I oval countermark depicting the right-facing portrait of King George III is applied centrally to the obverse field, as authorised for emergency circulation in Britain during 1797–1804. The host coin is a Spanish colonial 8 Reales struck at the Lima Mint.

Reverse description Central quartered shield of arms displaying the castles of Castile and lions of León in alternate quarters, surmounted by a royal crown and flanked by the Pillars of Hercules with scroll banners. The denomination mark '8R' appears to the left of the shield with the mint mark 'LIMAE' and assayer initials 'IJ' in the field. The circular legend reading HISPAN·ET IND·REX surrounds the design, separated by dots.
