Obverse description The coat of arms of the Republic of Palau occupies the central field, featuring a shield depicting a traditional figure holding a trident aloft amid a marine scene with treasure chest and a kneeling figure, with the inscription RAINBOW'S END in the exergue of the shield. A traditional outrigger canoe appears above the shield at the top of the field. Eight five-pointed stars are arranged in a circular border around the design. The legend REPUBLIC OF PALAU runs along the upper periphery, and the denomination 1$ is inscribed at the base of the coin.
