| Obverse description | The Republic of Palau coat of arms occupies the central field, depicted as a shield bearing the figure of a sea deity holding a trident, accompanied by a seated figure, with a star and crescent above, all enclosed within an ornate border. Palau's series of miniature gold issues from the mid-2000s exploited a licensing gap that allowed the small Pacific nation to produce legal-tender coins themed around foreign cultural monuments — a practice that generated far more revenue in collector premiums than in any circulating economy. This piece belongs to that run. The Trevi Fountain itself was completed in 1762 under Clement XIII, though the commission had been contested and stalled for decades prior.
