正面描述	The obverse features the national coat of arms of Palau at centre, depicting a traditional figure surrounded by marine and cultural motifs, with the legend REPUBLIC OF PALAU arcing along the upper periphery flanked by six-pointed stars on each side. A traditional Palauan sailing canoe is depicted above the shield at the top of the field. The motto RAINBOW'S END appears on a scroll at the base of the shield. The denomination 1$ is inscribed in the lower field beneath the arms.

背面描述	The reverse bears a full-colour photographic image depicting Pope John Paul II alongside the Grand Mufti of Syria, Ahmed Kaftaro, during the Pope's historic visit to the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus in 2001, commemorating the first papal visit to a mosque. To the left of the central image, the papal coat of arms of John Paul II is shown in colour with the dates 2005-2010 below. The legend 5TH ANNIVERSARY OF HIS DEATH arcs along the upper border, while DAMASCUS / 2001 A.D. appears across the lower central field. The inscription POPE JOHN PAUL II curves along the bottom rim.
