Authorized under the America's Beautiful Future Act, this commemorative was struck to coincide with the United States co-hosting the 2026 FIFA World Cup alongside Canada and Mexico — the first time three nations have jointly hosted the tournament. A portion of surcharges from each sale is directed to the U.S. Soccer Federation's development programs, the standard legislative mechanism Congress has attached to sports commemoratives since the 1990s.
The 2026 tournament expanded to 48 national teams for the first time, up from 32.
