Surrounding the inserted coin, the field is engraved with a detailed pastoral scene evoking French culture: figures seated and standing around a banquet table laden with wine bottles, grapes, and tableware, evoking a traditional French outdoor gathering. The trilingual legend EUROPEAN CURRENCY, EUROPÄISCHE WÄHRUNG, and MONNAIE EUROPEENNE is inscribed around the raised outer border, with the date 1.1.2002 appearing along the lower rim, commemorating the introduction of euro coins into circulation. |
