Reverse description The reverse features a left-facing bust portrait of the privateer Captain William Kidd in period dress with a large curled wig, occupying the left foreground in high relief against a mirror-polished field. To the upper right, a fully rigged three-masted sailing ship is depicted in relief on open seas. In the central right field, a colorized composition depicts a rolled treasure map and a flintlock pistol rendered in vivid color. Along the lower portion of the design, a stylized facsimile signature reading William Kidd is inscribed in script. The Perth Mint's P mintmark appears to the left, with the designer's initials DE visible near the lower left.
