| Obverse description | This annular sector-shaped coin features the right-facing diademed effigy of Queen Elizabeth II in the upper left corner, after the Maklouf portrait, set against an intricately engraved field depicting a dynamic apocalyptic scene. A crowned horseman bearing a lance charges rightward on a rearing steed, surrounded by swirling drapery and turbulent compositional elements rendered in high relief with an antiqued finish. The curved arc separating the obverse legend from the pictorial field follows the sector's inner radius. The legend reads NIUE ISLAND · ELIZABETH II · 1 DOLLAR 2012, arranged along the left and upper edges of the sector.
