A crowned horseman bearing a lance charges rightward on a rearing steed, surrounded by swirling drapery and turbulent compositional elements rendered in high relief with an antiqued finish. The curved arc separating the obverse legend from the pictorial field follows the sector's inner radius. The legend reads NIUE ISLAND · ELIZABETH II · 1 DOLLAR 2012, arranged along the left and upper edges of the sector. In the upper right corner, a winged angelic figure descends with a sword. The lower register presents an intricate antiqued silver bas-relief of a multitude of figures, both human and winged, in a tumultuous apocalyptic tableau.
