| Obverse description | The obverse features the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Susanna Blunt (engraved by Susan Taylor), depicting the Queen in right-facing profile with styled hair, pearl drop earring, and pearl necklace. The mature portrait is set against a mirror-polished field within a fine beaded inner border. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the upper left and D·G·REGINA along the upper right in raised Latin characters. The selective gold plating applied to the coin's rim is visible as a gilt band framing the design. |
