| 裏面の説明 | The central design depicts a lone voyageur paddling a birchbark canoe across open water, set against the modern Toronto skyline featuring the CN Tower prominently rising above a row of downtown buildings. The legend CANADA arcs across the upper field, with DOLLAR inscribed in large letters along the lower arc. Below the central scene, the commemorative inscription 1834 TORONTO 1984 marks the 150th anniversary of Toronto's incorporation as a city. The composition contrasts historical Indigenous imagery with contemporary urban architecture, all within a beaded border. |

Issued to mark the 150th anniversary of Toronto's incorporation as a city in 1834, this dollar was struck in two versions — a matte proof and a specimen finish — accounting for the dual Charlton references. The Royal Canadian Mint produced both exclusively for collector sets; no business strikes exist for this type.
Toronto was incorporated under the Municipal Corporations Act of Upper Canada, promoted largely by William Lyon Mackenzie, who became the city's first mayor that same year — just three years before leading the failed Upper Canada Rebellion of 1837.
