| Obverse description | Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II wearing a diadem and draped bust, as executed by Arnold Machin. The legend ELIZABETH II is inscribed along the left arc of the field, while D·G·REGINA arcs along the right, both within a beaded inner border. The portrait is rendered in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field, characteristic of the Royal Canadian Mint's collector coinage of this era. |

Issued to mark the 150th anniversary of Toronto's incorporation as a city in 1834, this dollar was struck in two versions — a matte proof and a specimen finish — accounting for the dual Charlton references. The Royal Canadian Mint produced both exclusively for collector sets; no business strikes exist for this type.
Toronto was incorporated under the Municipal Corporations Act of Upper Canada, promoted largely by William Lyon Mackenzie, who became the city's first mayor that same year — just three years before leading the failed Upper Canada Rebellion of 1837.
