| 裏面の説明 | Vibrant full-color depiction of Thumbelina, the heroine of Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale, seated atop a large stylized flower rendered in shades of violet and purple. A fairy companion in green hovers to her left, while a small butterfly appears at the right. The title THUMBELINA arcs across the upper field in bold lettering, and the attribution H.C. Andersen is inscribed in the lower field. The colorized central design is set within a polished silver border, creating a strong contrast between the illustrated scene and the milled edge. |

Fiji's commemorative dollar program has issued dozens of fairy-tale themed coins since the mid-2000s, largely targeting the collector and gift market rather than any monetary function. This Thumbelina piece is one in that series, based on Hans Christian Andersen's 1835 story — a Danish tale that has no particular connection to Fiji, the Pacific, or the Reserve Bank's monetary history.
Andersen published the story in Copenhagen as part of his second fairy-tale collection, the same volume that contained "The Little Mermaid."
