Obverse description Right-facing draped bust of Queen Elizabeth II, wearing a floral tiara, occupying the central raised field of the coin. The effigy is rendered in high relief with fine detail in the hair and drapery, bearing the engraver's initials IRB (Ian Rank-Broadley) below the truncation. The purity mark Ag 999 appears to the left of the bust. The surrounding border features a double row of beading separating the mirror-polished annular field, with the legend ELIZABETH II arcing along the upper left and NIUE ISLAND along the upper right, and the denomination and date 1 DOLLAR 2014 inscribed along the lower arc.

Reverse description Central design depicting a stylized Orthodox icon of Saint Nicholas (Святитель Николай) rendered in high relief within a square cross-shaped frame, evoking the aesthetic of a traditional Byzantine icon cover (oklad). The saint is shown facing front in episcopal vestments, right hand raised in blessing and left hand holding the Gospels, with a gilt halo surrounding his head. Four gilt pyramidal bosses adorn the corners of the cross frame, and the entire icon composition is set against a mirror-polished black field. The Cyrillic legend СВЯТИТЕЛЬ to the left and НИКОЛАЙ to the right flanks the central design in the annular field.
