Additional information

Song Jiang is one of the 108 outlaws immortalized in the 14th-century Chinese novel Water Margin, attributed to Shi Nai'an — a text banned repeatedly throughout Chinese imperial history for its glorification of rebellion against corrupt officials. Cook Islands issued an extended series drawing on these characters, part of a broader Pacific mint program targeting the Chinese collector market that expanded aggressively in the early 2000s.
