| 正面描述 | Third-generation effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, wearing the George IV State Diadem and draped in robes, with pearl drop earring and necklace visible. The portrait, modelled by Raphael David Maklouf, presents the Queen in a refined, mature style characteristic of Commonwealth coinage of the period. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left periphery and COOK ISLANDS along the right, with the date 1996 inscribed at the base of the coin. |

The Sichuan takin (*Budorcas taxicolor tibetana*) is a goat-antelope native to the bamboo forests of China's Qinling Mountains and was largely unknown to Western science until the late 19th century. Cook Islands leaned heavily on wildlife-themed issues throughout the 1990s, producing numerous copper-nickel dollar pieces for the collector market rather than circulation — the islands' own domestic currency needs being met through the New Zealand dollar.
