Obverse description Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, diademed and draped, wearing a pearl necklace and earring, after the fourth portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley. Reverse description A central scene depicts Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson seated, rendered in high relief against a naval background including the rigging and gun deck of a warship to the left. Two oval portrait medallions flank the central figure, each showing a bust portrait of Nelson at different stages of his career. The curved legend ENGLAND EXPECTS THAT EVERY MAN WILL DO HIS DUTY encircles the upper portion of the field, and the denomination ONE DOLLAR appears in two lines at the base.
