Obverse description Fourth effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, as designed by Ian Rank-Broadley, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, with the engraver's initials 'IRB' below the truncation. The legend 'ELIZABETH II' arcs above the portrait in the inner field, while 'NIUE ISLAND 2010' is inscribed along the upper rim. The denomination 'ONE DOLLAR' appears in two lines below the effigy. The outer border features a decorative relief pattern reminiscent of butterfly wing venation, framing the polished central field.

A single green leaf is visible at lower left. The scientific name 'LYCAENA VIRGAUREAE' is inscribed in bold lettering along the lower right arc of the field.
