| 背面描述 | Detailed frontal view of Sanssouci Palace in Potsdam, Germany, depicted in high relief with selective gold and silver toning to distinguish architectural elements. The Rococo facade of the palace, with its characteristic elongated single-storey form, central dome, and ornate pilasters, occupies the centre of the field, with the terraced vineyard stairways descending toward the viewer in the lower field. The legend GERMANY - SANSSOUCI arcs along the upper rim, a World Monuments series logo appears in the upper right field, and the denomination 1 DOLLAR is inscribed along the lower rim. |

Sanssouci, Frederick the Great's Rococo retreat in Potsdam, was built between 1745 and 1747 against the explicit advice of his architects, who warned the shallow foundations would cause structural problems almost immediately — and they were right. Cook Islands has issued gold-plated copper pieces under its authority since the 1970s largely as a revenue mechanism, with collector issues bearing no meaningful connection to the territory itself.
