| Obverse description | Diademed and draped right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II after the portrait model by Ian Rank-Broadley, whose initials IRB appear below the truncation. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left field and TOKELAU along the upper right, with the date 2020 and denomination ONE DOLLAR completing the inscription in the lower field. The central bust is set against a dark field, surrounded by an elaborately engraved border featuring heraldic devices including the Royal Crown at apex, lions rampant, unicorns, Tudor roses, and other Royal Cypher emblems separated by ceremonial swords, all rendered in gold-plate finish. A depiction of the Tokelau flag, incorporating the Southern Cross and a traditional canoe sail, appears in the lower exergue. |
