Reverse description A faithful adaptation of the design found on the Elizabethan Gold Ryal, depicting Queen Elizabeth I standing full-length aboard a Tudor man-of-war, crowned and wearing an elaborate ruff collar and period dress, holding a sceptre in her right hand. A large royal banner bearing the letter 'E' is displayed to the left, with the ship's rigging and masts visible in the field. A Tudor rose appears on the hull below the queen's figure, and the Pobjoy Mint mark (PM) is struck in the exergue. The circular inner border is beaded, with the legend QUEEN ELIZABETH I arching above, GOLD RYAL 1583-1585 PM inscribed below the central design, and 1 DOLLAR in the outer legend at the base.
