| Reverse description | Central color-printed portrait of Diana, Princess of Wales, depicted facing slightly left with a warm smile, wearing a red garment and earrings, set within a raised inner circle against a dark field. The legend DIANA - PRINCESS OF WALES arcs around the upper periphery of the border, while the dates 1961 - 1997 are inscribed at the base, denoting her birth and death years. Two gold-plated rose motifs in relief flank the central portrait at the lower left and lower right of the inner border, serving as decorative commemorative emblems. |

The London Lighthouse was founded in 1986 as one of the first dedicated support centers for people living with HIV/AIDS in the United Kingdom, at a moment when the disease carried severe social stigma and government response remained inadequate. Diana's association with the organization became one of the more photographed moments of her public life when she shook hands with patients without gloves in 1989 — a deliberate, visible rebuttal of the then-widespread fear that HIV could be transmitted through casual contact.
