Obverse description The sixth and final effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by sculptor Jody Clark, depicting a crowned and draped bust of the Queen facing right, wearing the George IV State Diadem and the Victorian Coronation Necklace. The portrait is rendered in fine relief against a flat field. The encircling legend reads ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 2023 1 DOLLAR, with the engraver's initials JC appearing below the truncation of the bust.

Reverse description A central roundel bears the Chinese character for Good Fortune and Good Luck, set within a beaded inner circle. Surrounding this central device is an outer band depicting all twelve animals of the Chinese Lunar zodiac in high relief, with the Rabbit prominently positioned at twelve o'clock in honour of the Year of the Rabbit. The designer's initials BS appear in the field. The overall composition reflects the traditional Lunar Series circular format.
