| Aanvullende informatie |
Issued on the fiftieth anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, this coin reflects the Solomon Islands' own acute stake in that conflict — the archipelago became one of the most heavily contested theaters of the Pacific War, with the Guadalcanal campaign of 1942–43 killing tens of thousands and leaving wrecks that still litter its waters today. The commemorative program was part of a broader wave of Pacific-nation issues marking the half-century, most struck by the Pobjoy Mint on contract.
