| Obverse description | The obverse features a right-facing crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II after the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait, set within a raised inner circle against a mirror-polished field. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs above the effigy, while ONE DOLLAR is inscribed vertically to the left and horizontally at the base. The outer annular border is decorated in high relief with a stylized rendering of butterfly wing venation and surface texture, extending across the full width of the coin. The issuer name NIUE ISLAND and the date 2010 are inscribed along the upper rim of this decorative border. The mintmaster initials MW appear on the obverse as part of the legend. |
