| Additional information |
Tokelau — three Pacific atolls with a combined population under 1,500 — issues coins primarily as a revenue source, with no meaningful domestic circulation. The Our Lady of Fatima issue appeared in 2017, the centenary year of the 1917 apparitions reported by three shepherd children in Portugal, a date that generated an unusually crowded field of commemorative issues worldwide. The Vatican itself marked the centenary by canonizing two of the three children, Francisco and Jacinta Marto, in May of that year.
