| Obverse description | Right-facing diademed and draped effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, engraved by Ian Rank-Broadley, with the engraver's initials IRB incuse below the truncation. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left field and TOKELAU 2017 along the right field, both flanked by decorative geometric lattice patterns characteristic of Tokelauan traditional weaving motifs. Below the portrait, at centre, appears the Tokelauan ike (a traditional implement bearing a cross motif), with a ribbon scroll inscribed TOKELAU MO TE ATUA beneath it.
