| Obverse description | The obverse bears the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt, depicting the Queen in right-facing profile bust, bare-headed, wearing a necklace and drop earrings, as rendered at approximately 77 years of age. The legend ELIZABETH II encircles the upper field, with D•G•REGINA completing the inscription in the lower field. The portrait is rendered in a restrained, classical style consistent with Blunt's 2003 engraving, with the Queen's initials SB truncating the neck. |

Part of the NHL centennial dollar series the Royal Canadian Mint issued in 2008, this piece was struck for the "visitor" variant — a distinction the RCM made by depicting the away-jersey color scheme, producing two separate collector dollars for each of the thirty franchises. The Senators entry in this series references the club's 1992 expansion revival rather than the original Ottawa Hockey Club, which folded in 1934 after winning four Stanley Cups.
KM#793 confirms the visitor designation within a paired issue alongside the home version.
