正面铭文 ELIZABETH II COOK ISLANDS RDM 1999
背面描述 Colorized depiction of a flowering branch of Eucalyptus recurva (Mongarlowe mallee), an endangered Australian shrub, rendered in naturalistic color against a polished silver field. The species name 'Eucalyptus recurva' is inscribed in italic script to the right of the central motif. The legend 'AUSTRALIAN FLORA SERIES' arcs along the upper portion of the design, flanked by a decorative border of green-colored dots forming a partial wreath. The denomination '$1' appears to the lower left of the branch, with the fineness and weight indicators '1oz .999 SILVER' inscribed along the lower field.

附加信息

The Mongarlowe mallee (Eucalyptus recurva) was discovered only in 1990 near Mongarlowe, New South Wales, with the entire wild population numbering fewer than 60 trees on a single rocky outcrop. This Cook Islands issue appeared less than a decade after that discovery, part of a broader run of endangered species dollars that the Cook Islands government issued through the 1990s — a program that had far more to do with the international bullion collectibles market than with any domestic monetary policy.
