Obverse description Right-facing crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II after the third portrait by Raphael David Maklouf, depicting the Queen wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, a pearl drop earring, and a pearl necklace. The legend QUEEN ELIZABETH II arcs across the upper field, with the denomination 1 DOLLAR and the issuer TUVALU flanking the lower portion of the portrait, and the date 2008 positioned at lower right. The initials RDM appear incuse in small letters below the truncation of the bust. The mirrored proof field provides a sharp contrast against the finely detailed relief of the effigy.

Reverse description The reverse features a colorized depiction of the Messerschmitt Bf 109, the iconic German WWII single-seat fighter aircraft, rendered in a dynamic composition across the field. A large foreground view of the aircraft is shown from above at an angle, displaying Luftwaffe markings including the Balkenkreuz on the wings and fuselage, while a second Bf 109 is depicted in flight in the upper right background within a colorized amber and black smoky sky. The legend Messerschmitt in Gothic blackletter script and BF109 in bold block lettering arc across the upper portion of the design, with the series inscription Fighter Planes of WWII rendered in script along the lower field. The Perth Mint's P mintmark appears at the left of the central design.
